Adult Classes
Who are the classes for?
The classes are suitable for:
- Complete beginners (someone who might throw away a school shirt when it needs a button sewing back on!)
- Anyone who has a slight knowledge of how to use a sewing machine, but who perhaps just needs their confidence rebuilding. (You'd be surprised how many people have told me they have been traumatised by their school experience of sewing lessons)
Where and when are they held?
- I would consider running a course in your area provided there are at least four people interested and I can find a suitable venue.
- I can also arrange "one to one" or "one to two" sessions in your home
How often are they held?
- The group courses are usually six hours long and spread over three days.
- The "one to one" courses are four hours long and can spread over one or two days.
What sort of things do you make?
- A tote bag and a zipped make-up bag.
- A simple cushion, with an appliquéd motif on the front and a piped edge.
- An apron and oven glove.
- An introduction to using a paper pattern to make a skirt or simple top.
How much do the courses cost?
Groups of four to six people:
- The first course costs £60 and this includes all materials and use of equipment, including sewing machines.
- Subsequent course costs will vary, depending on whether I supply the material or you bring your own.
‘One to one’ or ‘one to two’
- £25.00 per hour
- The first course includes materials and use of sewing machines and sewing equipment
- In subsequent courses I will still supply sewing equipment and basic haberdashery but you supply your own materials and patterns
How do I book a class?
- Look on the Class Details page to see if there is a suitable course for you.
- Phone or email me and I will send you a booking form and details of the class
- If there is nothing suitable, contact me to discuss what might be coming up. You can leave your details with me and I can then contact you when there is a place for you.
